I AM WORKER JUSTICE
Last week, I met Alvin Turner and Baxter Leach, two of the 1968 Memphis sanitation workers who went on strike with Rev Dr Martin Luther King just before his assassination. They were fighting for the same things that we are today – fair wages, safe workplaces, and a chance to raise their families with dignity. Forty-five years later, things haven’t changed and fast food workers in New York City are taking up the call to action.

Stop Mass Incarceration Network supporters:
It will make a big difference to all those affected by the abuse of the NYPD if we have a big and diverse turnout on Sunday to march down to Church Avenue to the 67 Precinct, where the officers who killed Kimani Gray are based. It's very important that we get the flyers out for the march in the neighborhood.
Saturday morning is Kimani's funeral at: St. Catherine of Genoa Church 520 Linden Boulevard Brooklyn, NY 11203
Let’s meet, 8:45 a. |

The Facts About the Tar Sands Pipeline The official State Department process to determine whether the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline is in the “national interest” is grinding along and should wrap up later this year, but that didn’t stop the senators from trying to force the issue last week. Sen. John Hoeven (R-ND) put forward an amendment to the Senate Democratic budget resolution, which is non-binding, calling for approval of the pipeline. Unfortunately, this amendment was supported by 62 senators |

Since March 18th, a historic trial has been underway.Floyd v. the City of New Yorkis named afterMXGM member David Floyd who testified at the start of the trial on March 18th. Another one of MXGM's members, Lalit Clarkson, will also soon be testifying. As many of you know, MXGM is a member organization of the PJ coalition andthis trial stands as the most pivotal legal challenge to the discriminatory and racially-biased stop-and-frisk program of the NYPD. |
